There is a shortage of food and basic commodities, everything being so expensive for them with inflation running at something like 600 percent. They are being told by the Government that their maize is running out, alongside a shortage of diesel and fuel .... these shortages causing prices to rise even higher.
Over the counter medicines are unobtainable so we have been sending on a regular basis large quantities of medicines including paracetamol and flu powders, also antiseptic creams and other items as they are needed. Some hospitals have no drugs, not even paracetamol, unless you have money to pay for them.
Basic toiletries are scarce and expensive and they are desperate for these items which we have also been sending.
We are currently sending financial support to help buy drugs for those who are suffering from Aids who cannot work to support themselves, let alone afford the medication they need. Without these Retro-Viral drugs and many others, many children will be left orphaned.
