We would appreciate your prayer support on a daily basis and any financial donations, regardless of how small it may be for the very survival of the "forgotten ones"
Over a period of decades, wars, aids scourge and practices of social and economic backwardness have led to a sector of the society living very marginalized lives. Wars have left people homeless and men, women and children have had to move from the countryside into camps prepared by the Government.
The situation in Uganda is critical, especially for those who live in the rural areas. Many children have been orphaned due to the Aids epidemic and a door has been opened to us to help a few abandoned children. It has been left to their relatives to care for them, and they are all too often in the situation where they themselves have no income or means of support and are already struggling to survive without our help......many don't. There are many families in Africa with what is called "extended families"....they do their best to take in the orphaned children of relatives.
As well as financial aid, we have also sent school materials and school fees to these families. Some of the money we have sent has been used to help repair leaking roofs and supply blankets to keep the families warm. Clothing has been purchased and this is wonderful for them....as they have previously been in rags and tatters as you can see from the photographs below.
£1 will go a long way in Uganda.....it can give 10 children one meal
We have taken on responsibility for these children and have adopted them as our very own "Lazarus children". We have pledged to send them continued financial help. Our contact in Kampala is Sister Winnie, who with Sister Josephine, makes long and arduous visits into the rural areas to visit the children and take them the things they need.
The children are overwhelmed that there is someone who loves them and wants to help them; it has put hope in their hearts for the future.
